Our Story

Petitou opened its doors in October 2003. Situated off the bustling Bellenden Road, Petitou has been created in what was once an old butchers. Thierry and Marleen took over the place in early 2018, becoming the third owners of the picturesque cafe. Having spent both of their lives travelling the globe working in theatre they took over Petitou to settle down and create the perfect place to meet, eat good food, drink and unwind.

Not only does Petitou have huge North-West facing windows and an old London Plane tree which we love; but if you look closely at our ceramic terrace you will be notice that it depicts an aerial map of Peckham, made by Lorraine Rutt.

We serve homemade, organic, locally sourced food and drinks inspired by different cultures, cuisines and people that have influenced us during our lives. We like to say that we are “primarily vegetarian” with a slice of ham or smoked salmon accompanying the odd dish. Just remember that our “Menu” isn’t all we do, please check our boards for daily specials; which include delicious quiches, fresh salads and hearty soups or stews.

We welcome children and dogs but due to having limited space inside we ask that you kindly leave your buggies under our awning.

We do not have wifi for public use in support of conversation. However do not let this deter you from bringing your laptop in.
